Working Together with Families

Working is positive collaboration with families is essential in how we best support children’s learning. In this we value parental voice. Families have opportunities throughout the year to provide feedback which include:

· daily on the gate, at collection times

· meetings with teachers, the Pastoral team and Senior Leaders

· Parent Forum (a meeting which takes place on a half-termly cycle)

· PTA

· Annual family survey

· Mini surveys throughout the year

· Coffee mornings and afternoons, including those run by specialist agencies for example Family Voice, Barnardo’s and Freemantles

· Events run through the Family Centre, the Spring

If a family is concerned about provision for their child in school, please know the school will empathically listen, seeking to fully understand and for this to inform how resolution can be put in place.

The school works in partnership with Parentkind, an organisation which supports the school in actively seeking and responding to parent voice. This year our priorities include:

  • Providing further training for staff on fostering a feedback-rich culture in school from families, including managing challenging conversations
  • Establishing a working party to proactively review the school’s approach to inclusive parental engagement, including the monitoring of the impact of this work
  • Composing a detailed strategy for inclusive parental engagement, in particular with a focus on strategic school developments

If an issue remains unresolved, families can register a complaint with the school. The GLF Complaints Policy can be found by clicking on the link below.
