Provision

Majority of children will have their needs met by quality first teaching and ordinarily available provision. Children’s progress is monitored regularly through in class observations,

formal assessments and everyday practice, including discussions with class teachers, behaviour lead and inclusion lead. If a child is not making expected progress against their individualised targets further support will be explored through the Ordinarily Available Provision (OAP).

In Surrey, the Ordinarily Available Provision (OAP) outlines the support that mainstream schools are expected to provide for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) without the need for additional funding or an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan. This ensures that all students have access to inclusive education tailored to their individual needs (Surreylocaloffer.org)

The OAP is structured around the four key areas of need identified in the SEND Code of practice, with an additional focus on Medical needs.

- Communication and Interaction

- Cognition and Learning

- Social,Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)

- Sensory and/or Physical Needs

- Medical Needs

- Creating communication-friendly classrooms.
